I don’t like giving bad reviews but this scrub deserves to big fat thumbs DOWN. I had really high hopes for Korres after seeing the name pop up in many high fashion magazines and I like that it’s all natural. I am glad that I didn’t run to my blog right away to post about this product…at first I really liked it. I liked the way it felt when I scrubbed my skin and that it felt “natural” – it REALLY felt like seeds from a pomegranate on my face. I thought this was a good thing….oh boy was I in for it!! I’ve never had my skin react to a scrub this way before – my skin freaked, all of a sudden my blemishes were huge. I waited a few weeks just to see if it was some freak accident or another product was to blame — nope, same thing happened again. Ughh. Glad I figured it out. It’s not like my face needs to purge all of the bad stuff out either so I know that wasn’t the case. Sometimes when you switch over to a good skincare line or get your first facial, your skin will get rid of all the bad stuff but this is not the case with my skin. I’m a facial and skincare product junkie (and broke because of it!) :) Now I am going to wait on posting about the new scrub I am using now just to make sure that I’m still loving it in a few weeks. Thankfully, I was too busy with weddings to post before I realized that I hate this scrub!!!
To each their own – I have sensitive combination skin and this scrub was a huge no-no for me. Use with caution!!! Unfortunately, this one bad experience ruined it for me so I won’t be trying anything else from their line!!

Wedding Do’s and Don’ts

September 7, 2009

This has been done a gazillion times by many different magazines, blogs and even friends will give you the do’s and don’ts for your wedding day….well, here are they are from me! I feel obligated to do a “do and don’t” after all I have seen in the years of doing wedding makeup and spending many mornings with brides. Some I cannot believe I have to mention but I have seen it all! :)
DO NOT
Do not decide to go for a total new look on your wedding day. If you have been a brunette all of your life, don’t go platinum blonde. And if the only makeup you own is mascara, don’t decide to go for a smokey eye and red lipstick on your wedding day. Look like yourself. Yes, get highlights to brighten up your color, get your hair and makeup done for your wedding day, but don’t look like a totally different person – be yourself! Also, reconsider the tight-to-your-head updo, it can be severe….just because you are getting married does not mean you have to put all of your hair up. If you always wear your hair down, wear it down if you want to!
Do not get microdermabrasion the day before your wedding day. I can’t believe I have to even tell anyone this but it has happened!

Do not wear a ton of eyeliner under your eye – you want to bring your eyes UP not down!

Do not decide that you are going to get a spray tan the week of your wedding. Whether it be the first time you are going or a new place – DON’T do it! Only go if you have a place that you have tried, tested and trust. Orange brides are not cute!

Do not wear shoes from Lovers Lane on your wedding day because your husband is way taller than you. Your feet will kill you by the time walk into the reception hall. Yes, it was me that did this one!

Do not stress on your wedding day (it can’t be said enough). Most things are out of your control and it will be a memorable day no matter what. If something goes wrong, it will make for a funny story to tell again later in life.
DO
Get your eyebrows waxed – not the morning of your wedding day (we don’t want you to be red!) but a few days before is good. Again, go to someone you trust! Your brows are one of the most noticable features on your face and when groomed properly, they can give you an instant facelift. For those in the Chicago burbs, my suggestion is Mary Kate at Salon Aria in Woodridge. She is an eyebrow genius!
Get fake lashes on your wedding day….or at least try them out at your makeup trial before the wedding day. They make hundreds of different types of lengths and thicknesses so just because you hear fake lashes, does not mean that you will look like Tammy Faye. Just a little lash can give you a little bit of glam in a subtle way and let me tell you, your pictures will show it!
Remember to touch up your makeup. Pictures will be taken of you all day long so blot your face with blotting papers to control oil and freshen up your lipstick/gloss whenever you have a minute. Put your maid of honor on shine patrol for the day and have her remind you!

Wear a button down shirt when getting ready on your wedding day (this is textbook!)

Make a playlist of all your favorite music and play it while you are getting ready. It will keep you calm and set the mood for the fun day you will have.

Practice your facial expressions in the mirror before your wedding day. No one has to know and you will be thankful you did!
